May is nearly upon us and, with that, the countdown to Refugee Festival Scotland 2019 really begins!
We’ve been busy recruiting ambassadors and volunteers, liaising with community groups, organising events, planning, planning, planning and soon we’ll be ready to release this year’s programme and artwork. The festival will take place 20-30 June across Scotland, with loads of exciting events for everyone to enjoy and learn from. We can’t wait to tell you everything that we have planned – watch this space!

Submissions are now closed and we are busy organising all the wonderful entries for this year’s Refugee Festival Scotland.
From community food events to readings, film screenings, performances and sports activities for children and adults – there is something for everyone! Join us at venues all across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and wider Scotland. Everyone is invited!
The Festival begins on World Refugee Day – Thursday 20 June – and will run until Sunday 30 June 2019. The full programme is going to be announced in May. Watch this space!

Today, we’re looking back to 2011, to the 60th anniversary of the Refugee Convention, to the year before the Olympics, to a time which has been drenched in nostalgia as a period of harmony and inclusivity. But the problems facing asylum seeking communities today were just as prevalent in 2011 – as Robert Ormerod captured in his exhibition on the Red Road flats.

Refugee Festival Scotland 2019 is coming round fast! The dates for this year’s festival are 20-30 June 2019.
World Refugee Day itself will fall on our opening day – 20th June; so today, we wanted to highlight an event from last year’s World Refugee Day – a lecture by our ambassador Alison Phipps.
