Refugee Festival Focus: The Healing Power of Plants
Published on 17-Jun-2022
We reached out to our event organisers to find out a bit more about their #RefugeeFestScot events!
Meet Sarah from Meadows Community Garden (Greening our Street).
What can people expect from your event? Why should they come along?
Visitors are welcome to explore the community garden, and select some leaves and petals to use for making a cyanotype picture. These sun prints take about 20 minutes to cure, so there will be plenty of time to listen to a story, or maybe share one!
What does the theme of Storytelling mean to you/ your organisation?
At our community garden, we tell each other stories all the time. We know that plants have healing properties, and that gardening is beneficial in many ways, and we want to share this.
What are you most looking forward to/ hoping for during the Festival?
We hope to welcome visitors, especially New Scots, to enjoy our garden, make art, and share stories.
“The Healing Power of Plants” will take place on Saturday 18th June, 12pm-4pm. Just turn up on the day – find out more.
