Serve2020 is a community group which runs clubs for children from refugee families, from, for example, Syria, Kurdistan, Afghanistan and Ukraine. The clubs started during the first lockdown and are still known as ‘ZOOM CLUB.’Now, the weekly groups meet in person. Since 2020 Zoom Club members have taken part in an annual croquet league and tournament. This year the croquet tournament is one of the Refugee Festival Scotland events, and also involves an adult tournament for everyone who takes part in the weekly Friday book club. 110 people borrow books every week, and take part in cultural events throughout the year, celebrating, for example, Burns Night and St Andrew’s Day together, and the book club also bring together New Scots from Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya. The Zoom Club children also enjoy trips together during school holidays.
