Scottish Refugee Council provides support and different opportunities throughout the year to artists and Festival event organisers.

Support for Festival event organisers

Scottish Refugee Council invites communities across Scotland to deliver events as part of Refugee Festival Scotland, reflecting their cultures, interests and issues that matter to them.

We provide free resources to help organise your event. We also provide: one-to-one event development support; connect event organiser with venues, artists and partner organisations; and organise training and networking sessions, bringing people together to share ideas and advice.

We also run a Small Grants programme, which awards funding of up to £750 to help grassroots groups and organisations cover the cost of running events as part of the Festival. Applications for the Small Grants programme are currently closed and will reopen in early December.

Support for artists and creatives

Scottish Refugee Council also delivers an annual programme of commissioned projects and open calls for artists.

As part of this, we are launching an Artists Professional Development Programme, which will support a cohort of five artists or collectives from across Scotland to develop and present work as part of Refugee Festival Scotland 2027, providing mentoring, peer learning and opportunities to connect with Scotland’s cultural sector.

Deadline to apply is noon on Thursday 8 October. Find out more and apply here.
