Why Public Libraries: An Art Exhibition
Monday, 20 June
14:00 - 16:30
By Edinburgh Napier University
Join us at Wester Hailes Library for the grand opening of Why Public Libraries, an exhibition created in collaboration with artists who have lived experience of migration. The project, created by a PhD student, Rachel Salzano, aims to bring communities in Edinburgh together and spark conversation.
Refugees and people seeking asylum were invited to submit photos, artefacts and pieces of art they have created, which represent why they use public libraries. Through their artwork, we can examine the connection between libraries in Scotland and people seeking safety.
Don’t worry if you can’t make the grand opening. ‘Why Public Libraries’ will be on display until 20 July, so you can come and enjoy it at a later date.
