For the inauguration of Govanhill Baths Art Space, a collaborative photography exhibition will guide through the themes of migration and explore how architecture and the clothes we wear can become catalysts for re-negotiation of identity, history and place. Seen through the eyes of a group of young New-Europeans, and especially those that have experienced a situation of asylum seeking in the past.

Comparative perspectives from young Afghan refugee communities of Glasgow and Vienna will be on display. Both Glasgow and Vienna are connected through their cultural heritage of Art Nouveau – an international design style foremost enabled through the movements of people and exchanges with each other. How does the presence of refugee communities take part in the process of re-shaping space and culture in these cities today?

The event takes place under the umbrella of Govanhill Baths Community Trust in collaboration with Glasgow School of Art Stand Up To Racism Group and Scottish Afghan Society.

This exhibition is on display from 22 June to 5 July 2019. Opening time on the launch day is 1pm; on the following days the opening times are 10am to 5pm.

The venue is fully accessible with an accessible bathroom.
