Sudan Refugee Day

Sunday, 26 June
14:00 - 18:00

By Sudanese Community in Edinburgh

The Sudanese community in Edinburgh invites you to an uplifting and inspiring celebration highlighting the diversity and resilience of our people and culture.

We will use traditional music, art and storytelling to highlight the journeys that Sudanese refugees have taken and the contribution that we make to life in Scotland. Our event will help participants to connect to their past, present and future.

We will also run a story telling competition for young people, providing them with opportunities to step into and explore their own inner narratives and to express concepts of empathy, heritage and creativity.

Where

Southside Community Centre, 117 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9ER

About Sudanese Community in Edinburgh

We support members of the Sudanese community in Edinburgh (mainly refugees and asylum seekers) to integrate in the local community through social and cultural events. We also support our members to access local services. In addition to this, we offer opportunities for young Sudanese people to learn about Sudanese cultures and traditions through a wide range of activities and language classes. We collaborate with a wide range of local organisations to share knowledge and influence positive change in our community.
