Our Dreams, Our Futures
16:00 - 21:00
By AfricAlba
Young people are invited to come out of their usual environment to: exchange with others, make new friends, and build new relationships between young people from different parts of Glasgow. The event will be organised and run by young people who are mostly from African refugee, and asylum seeker families in Glasgow.
The event will start with 3 young people presenting their ambitions and dreams, followed by a ‘Questions and Answers’ session to listen to other young participants. It will end with music and dance, whilst sharing food and refreshments.
AfricAlba is a community-led voluntary organisation that exists to address the major challenges for social and economic development of African asylum seekers, refugees and residents in Scotland. AfricAlba provides information and advice with the aim of improving Africans’ confidence, and raising their self-esteem; thus enabling them to cope with global economic competition and challenges. Their focus is on addressing the challenges asylum seekers, refugees and ethnic minority community groups in Scotland face, such as: building futures, empowering people, improving life and transforming aspiration.
After the presentation and debate, there will be a dance party with famous African music of the 1980’s to 2000’s until 4am on Sunday morning.
