My Experience, Your Knowledge
Saturday, 18 June
14:00 - 18:00
By African Collaboration Group
In this storytelling event, refugees and the local community will share experiences of their past and present lives.
Traditionally in some African communities, adults share stories to educate the young. This takes place around the fire while food is being cooked and eaten.
It isn’t possible to do this in Scotland because people usually only gather around a fire for Bonfire Night when there are many other distractions.
At our event, we will be sharing stories – and food – around a controlled bonfire to replicate traditional storytelling in Africa.
Where:
Jerviston Community Centre, Coalhall Avenue, Motherwell, ML1 4BU.
