Iman Tajik’s public art installation Freedom of Movement, is a highlight of this year’s Refugee Festival Scotland. The installation refers to the ‘right to travel as a human rights concept, encompassing the right of individuals to travel from place to place within the territory of a country, and to leave the country and return to it’. The installation will remain on the National Cycle Network 77 by Dundee’s Riverside for three months. Tajik has also created a corresponding installation in Glasgow by the Riverside Museum on the National Cycle Network 7.

Iranian artist Tajik makes installations using video, photography and performance. His work speaks to personal experiences of crossing geographical borders and socio-political barriers, and insists on the right to freedom of movement. Through this, Tajik spotlights and stresses the need for human resistance towards barriers and boundaries that are implemented socially and politically in favour of some but not all.
