Please come join us for a very special and welcoming gathering in the beautiful A K Bell Library in Perth. This celebratory event will launch a clay amulet micro exhibition and the To Gather publication. To Gather is a multilingual and cross-generational project, facilitated by artist Saffa Khan in collaboration with different communities of refugees and asylum seekers across Helensburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Dumfries and Arbroath.
This project is a tribute to the incredible heritage and cultural enrichment that those groups bring with them, when they settle in Scotland. It’s also a celebration of the libraries and safe gathering spaces that exist for people seeking sanctuary.
The clay pieces in this exhibition were developed by project participants, and reflect objects precious to them. The publication is a weaving together of the participants’ different languages, alongside prompts and resources for libraries to consider, when they create gathering spaces for newly arrived communities.
There will be creative prompts and activities to get involved in, delivered by the project’s artist and facilitator; Saffa Khan.
All are welcome! No need to book.
