This community celebration brings people together in West Pilton through food, storytelling, and shared cultural heritage. Delivered by Youdom Suya CIC in partnership with West Pilton Community Centre, the event builds on our ongoing Saturday community snack bar and regular community meals with local organisations.
At the heart of the celebration is Tchoû koûdhëk, a traditional mashed potato and bean recipe from the organiser’s village in Cameroon, shared alongside Scottish food traditions. Through live cooking demonstrations, storytelling and conversation, refugees, New Scots and local residents will explore themes of identity, home and belonging.
The event creates a welcoming, accessible space where food becomes a way to connect cultures, strengthen relationships and celebrate Refugee Week through everyday community gathering and shared experience.
