A Ukrainian art session celebrating the country’s rich cultural heritage and fostering cultural exchange, as part of this year’s Refugee Festival Scotland. The workshop will focus on Petrykivka painting (Petrykivskyi rozpys) – a traditional folk art once used to decorate the whitewashed walls of Ukrainian homes. Led by Alina Filatova, a Ukrainian refugee now living in Orkney, the session will begin with a brief introduction to the history and symbolism of this vibrant art form, followed by guided instruction to help you create your own Petrykivka piece.
