Personal Stories – from Experience to Exhibition

Community Celebration Storytelling/Poetry/Spoken Word Visual Art

Shambellie House is a creative centre set in a tranquil haven in rural Dumfries Galloway. We are offering a day for local asylum seekers and refugees to visit and share their own stories and photographs with local volunteers and photographers on hand to help listen, record and print any materials. Stories and photographs will be recorded and translated (where necessary) with a view to representing what “Community” means to different people. Any stories people wish to share will give voices to the photographs and be displayed as part of an exhibition of photographs at Shambellie House from 28th June to the 14th July.

Photography is not only a visual language but a universal language so this will enable and encourage engaging and conversing where language may otherwise be a barrier.
