For this activity, we will follow a route starting at the entrance to Kelvingrove Park at Kelvin Way and University Avenue / Bank Street. From here, we will follow the paved path into the park, crossing the footbridge to follow along the River Kelvin, and eventually loop back on ourselves to finish where we started. We will leave plenty of time for breaks throughout along the route, and the total loop will be no longer than one mile, lasting no longer than one hour. The route is accessible to wheelchair and mobility scooter users.

The route from the park to our workshop room is approximately 0.2 miles, uphill along University Avenue along the pavement. The building is equipped with lifts and stairs. The tapestry making activity is seated.

Community Celebration Talk/Workshop Visual Art

Join GRAMNet in celebrating Refugee Festival Scotland 2026 for a creative workshop weaving together stories of home, belonging, and unity.

This collective journey and tapestry making workshop will begin in Kelvingrove Park to gather materials that represent home, belonging, hope, and change, or in some way reflect our rootedness to new and old landscapes. After creating our shared collection, we will move to the university to print our objects onto fabric. We will end our activity by stitching together our pieces of fabric into a tapestry that represents the connectedness of our stories.

The final work will then be displayed at the university as a symbol of our commitment to celebrating unity, forging belonging, and marking the landscapes that shape us.

This event is a follow-up to the ‘This is your home’ workshop taking place on the 18th June. Please join us for both events, or drop in when you can!

No previous artistic experience is required, and all are welcome.
