This heartfelt outdoor celebration will bring together 40 community members, refugees and asylum seekers for a day of connection, creativity, and reflection.
Centered around a shared vegetarian picnic, the event invites adults to contribute a sentence capturing a personal milestone, which will be woven into a collaborative poem—an uplifting symbol of unity and strength.
Children will embark on an engaging treasure hunt, gathering natural elements like leaves and stones to craft meaningful environmental artworks representing their own growth and milestones. Adding a hopeful touch, children will also plant sunflower seeds in pots to take home—each seed a symbol of resilience, new beginnings, and the bright journey ahead as they settle into a new community. Through simple yet powerful activities, this gathering celebrates personal stories, encourages intergenerational bonding, and nurtures a sense of belonging in a warm, welcoming environment.
