Milestones of Uncertainty: No Place to Call Home
A storytelling workshop and live radio broadcast for Refugee Festival Scotland on Radio Buena Vida
As part of Refugee Festival Scotland, Milestones of Uncertainty is a creative storytelling workshop and live radio broadcast led by artist, activist, and new refugee Sadia Sikandar and Riah Naief, founder of The Listen Gallery. The project celebrates the voices, talents, and contributions of asylum seekers living in temporary hotel accommodation, while also exploring the ongoing challenges of life in limbo.
Through personal stories, soundscapes, recorded conversations, and live interviews, participants reflect on milestones of strength, creativity, and community in the face of displacement. The resulting radio show shares these powerful narratives—offering insight, raising awareness, and advocating for change.
This event honours not only the difficult realities faced by many but also the joy, resilience, and cultural richness that refugees and asylum seekers bring to Scotland.
You can listen live to the radio show in-person at the cafe or online here and catch up after the event on our SoundCloud archive here.
