Film Talk/Workshop Visual Art

In this workshop, part of Refugee Festival Scotland, we will use a super 8 projector and super 8 film reels (blank or archived) to make a community film together. Participants will be given materials to physically scratch and draw onto the film.

Using the method of foley design in films, they will be guided in creating a live sound design (it can include spoken word, poetry) and use props relevant to the project. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a final film to watch together.

This workshop is for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants and aims to introduce alternative filmmaking techniques such as the Super 8 projector as a method of making and sharing stories and connect.

Inspired by the Moving Image Archives work, the event will introduce participants to filmmaking resources and hope to build stronger connections towards this organisation and their new home in Scotland.
