Community Celebration Talk/Workshop Visual Art

Join the Intercultural Youth Group at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum as part of Refugee Festival Scotland 2025 and explore some highlights from our collection through weaving.

Through RFS’s theme this year, MILESTONES, we’ll be exploring some of Kelvingrove’s most recent displays that talk about the legacies of colonialism.

In the workshop, we’ll be using different cultural fabrics from the global diaspora to design a garment using the subtraction cutting technique and then adding different fabrics to the garment. The garment will represent refugees and asylum seekers’ stories in a creative atmosphere for these collective conversations.

Please note that this workshop is for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants only. Participants can either bring their scrap fabric or use fabrics provided.
