Hosted by the Migration and Mobilities Research Network at Edinburgh Napier University, this one-day in-person conference explores the lived realities of migration in an age of deepening global uncertainty.
From bureaucratic delays to emotional limbo, many migrants today find themselves suspended in in-between states – neither fully settled nor entirely connected to what they’ve left behind. This event focuses on the politics of waiting, displacement, and negotiation at these thresholds.
We invite researchers, practitioners, and community members to reflect on how mobility intersects with state power, global inequality, and cultural change. What does it mean to belong, to arrive, or to be held in place?
The day includes a keynote from Professor Julia O’Connell Davidson (University of Bristol) and a screening of participatory films exploring refugee and migrant experiences.
Held during Refugee Week, this is a space for open dialogue, exchange, and connection. All welcome.
