Community Celebration Visual Art

This exhibition reveals a body of work created by Abandoned Artists’ Creative Spark Time project; a participatory art group of eight displaced Ukrainian women who have been creating together over the past year. This project is a collaboration between Abandoned Artists CIC and LifeWithArt charity. The exhibition will be hosted by North Edinburgh Arts, where Abandoned Artists are studio residents.

For us, creation begins with feeling the world and staying connected to its natural rhythms. Nature is in constant dialogue with us, and our role is to listen closely and help its voice be heard more clearly. In the pace of contemporary life, natural materials are often overlooked or silenced. Here, we offer them a space where they can speak again.

In this project, participants become careful guides rather than controllers, bringing natural materials into focus. There are no barriers or distant walls, only a supportive environment that honours their origins and quiet stories. We do not assign fixed roles. Instead, we hold a gentle light allowing each material and each maker to find their voice.

This is a space for real exchange. We receive from the Earth in forms, rhythms, and traces. In return, we offer attention, care, and emotional presence. In this shared process, making becomes a way of acknowledging nature’s voice and celebrating the living dialogue between materials, artists, and viewers.

All welcome, just drop in.
