As part of Scottish Refugee Festival 2025, join us for Women Making It Special – Stitching Our Stories, a heartfelt gathering that honours the journeys, dreams, and resilience of refugee and migrant women through story, craft, and culture.
This year, we’re proud to welcome artist Saffa Khan, whose work centres on sanctuary, memory, and belonging. Saffa will share from their powerful project To Gather — a multilingual and cross-generational celebration of libraries as safe
spaces. Developed with refugee and asylum-seeking communities across five Scottish regions, the project brings together clay amulets, shared stories, and a beautifully crafted tactile publication that pays tribute to libraries as places of comfort, care, and community.
Guests will have the chance to take part in creative hands-on crafts inspired by Saffa’s practice, enjoy moving storytelling, and savour multicultural refreshments.
Together, we will celebrate the threads that bind us—past, present, and future—and pay tribute to Glasgow Women’s Library as a space of refuge, expression, and hope.
