Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony

15:00 - 19:00

By Ethio-Scottish Community

The Ethiopian coffee ceremony is a ritualized form of making and drinking coffee. The coffee ceremony was an Ethiopian tradition and became part of Eritrean, Somalie, Northern Kenian and East Sudanese culture. The Ethiopian Coffee ceremony provides an occasion for family and friends to come together to talk and socialise on a daily basis. There will be a film screening of the great Abebe Bikila documentary to the community and friends. Bikila until recently has been one of a handful of famous African famous athletes pioneering long distance running. Many believe the success of East Africans’ International long distance running reputation has been led by Abebe Bikila. There will be Ethiopian coffee, a documentary about Ethiopia and small nibble of Ethiopian foods. Ethiopian Community in Scotland (Ethio-Scottish Community) is a registered charity in Scotland. The organisation works to promote Ethiopian and Scottish culture, and assists in the integration of the East African community (refugees, asylum seekers and university students) with mainstream Scottish society.
