Calling artists and graphic designers!

Arts Open is a new opportunity for artists from refugee backgrounds

We’re on the lookout for fresh talent to design the visual identity for Refugee Festival Scotland 2026.

This is a great opportunity for artists and graphic designers with lived experience of forced displacement, and who are currently living in Scotland, to take on a paid commission and create the ‘look’ for our annual celebration of art, culture and community.

The successful artist will deliver the key design elements for next year’s festival, including a poster, which will be displayed in towns and cities across Scotland, a short animation, and a series of social media graphics.

Previous commissions included Jude Ershead and Shatha Altowai, Malini Chakrabarty, Mousa Al-Nana, and the Museum of Things collective.

Artist Shatha Altowai, said: “Designing for Refugee Festival Scotland was a chance to tell our stories with pride and colour.”

Want to shape the look and feel of the Festival?

The successful artist will be paid a fee of £1,350 for this commission.

If interested, please first read the design brief. Then submit an expression of interest form.

The deadline is 12pm on Monday 5 January.

Supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
