We are delighted to be able to share our 2025 Refugee Festival Scotland Highlights & Overview report.
2025 has been a very special year! Refugee Festival Scotland celebrated a landmark 25th birthday, for what proved to be one of the largest Festival editions to date. From 13 to 22 June, audiences from across Scotland were invited to participate in 167 events nationwide, across 21 local authorities, right from the Scottish Borders up to Orkney.
The programme included everything from radio shows, quilt making workshops and traveling exhibitions, to talks, lectures, sports tournaments and much more. We’ve been deeply moved by the passion, creativity, and resilience shown by all those who made this year’s Festival possible — across organisers, commissioned artists, volunteers, and community groups.
The Highlights & Overview report spotlights examples of some of this year’s events, to give a sense of the variety and range of activity that took place. It also gathers feedback from the Festival team, volunteers, organisers and attendees, and demonstrates the wider impact of the Festival in championing inclusivity for people seeking sanctuary in Scotland.
Thanks again to everyone involved in this year’s celebrations. Together we are growing a powerful, inclusive movement rooted in hospitality and hope for those seeking refuge in Scotland.
