Could you be a Refugee Festival Scotland Ambassador?

We are looking for up to six people with lived refugee/asylum seeking experience, who want to speak out in the media about what it means to be a refugee in Scotland today.

Refugee Festival Scotland Ambassadors are spokespeople for the Festival, who want to share their knowledge and experience to help build wider understanding of the issues that are important to them.

Ambassadors will develop key skills across three media training workshops, work with journalists to share their stories, and be a crucial part of our press and social media campaign to promote the Festival.

Last year’s Ambassadors appeared in articles in the Sunday Post and The National, and appeared on news programmes on the STV and the BBC. You can read more about last year’s Ambassadors here.

Apply for this year’s programme here!

For the 2025 programme, you will need to be available to attend workshops at our Glasgow office on the following dates:

  • Friday, 2nd May
  • Friday, 9th May
  • Friday, 16th May

These workshops will take place from 10am-3pm.

Between 19th May and 13th June, we will work on media stories for Refugee Festival Scotland. You will also be invited to some of our exciting Festival events.

This is a voluntary position. You will receive a thank you voucher for your time and energy, and travel and childcare expenses. Food and refreshments will be provided at all workshops.

Workshops will be facilitated by Nicola Love, Media Officer at Scottish Refugee Council.

To apply, please fill in the online application, which is available here.

If you have any questions, please contact nicola.love@scottishrefugeecouncil.org.uk.

The deadline for applications is Monday, 21st April at 10am.
