What’s On: Friday 21 June

The final weekend of Refugee Festival Scotland is almost here… and there’s still so much to see and do! Here are nine events to look out for on Friday.

1. Rise and Unite: Stained Glass for Solidarity

When: 21 June, 10am – 3pm

Where: The Spectrum Centre, Inverness

Come together to create something special. Led by two experienced artists, participants will design and paint individual Perspex panels, which will be assembled into a stained-glass art-piece.

2. A Celebration of Diverse Cultures in Inverclyde

When: 21 June, 11am – 3pm

Where: Lyle Kirk, Greenock

Celebrate different cultures by tasting a wide variety of multinational cuisines, enjoying music from Afghanistan, Syria, Sudan and Ukraine, taking in live performances and relaxing in the wellbeing room.

3. Jewellery Making to Inspire and Empower

Where: Vanilla Ink, Glasgow

Make your very own brand-new piece of jewellery in just two hours with this workshop for complete beginners.

Want to get creative? Come along to this traditional Ukrainian embroidery masterclass. All skills levels welcome and all materials provided.

Where: Garnethill Multicultural Centre, Glasgow

Enjoy a delicious community meal, watch live bread-making demonstrations and learn recipes from across the world.

6. The Future of UNWRA and Palestinian Refugees

When: 21 June, 11am – 12:30pm

Where: Adam Smith Building, Glasgow University

This talk addresses the role UNRWA plays for Palestinians refugees, why it is under such intense fire now, and what consequences the dismantling of UNRWA may have for Palestinian refugees.
