Could you be a Refugee Festival Scotland Ambassador?

We are looking for up to SIX people with lived refugee/asylum seeking experience in Scotland, who want to speak out in the media.

A Refugee Festival Scotland Ambassador will:

  • develop media skills in three Media Training workshops
  • work with journalists to share your story in the media (if you want to!)
  • take part in a photoshoot to promote the Festival
  • be part of our social media & press campaign to promote the Festival

You will need to be available on the following dates:

Thursday 2nd May

  • Introduction to media
  • Consent
  • Photoshoot

Thursday 9th May

  • Media interview skills
  • Mock interviews
  • Filming content for social media

Thursday 16th May

  • Meet a journalist
  • More interview practice

These workshops will take place from 10am-3pm.

Between 16th May and 13th June, we will work on media stories for Refugee Festival Scotland. You will also be invited to some of our exciting Festival events.

You will receive a thankyou voucher for your time and energy, and travel and childcare expenses. Food and refreshments will be provided at all workshops.

If your application is successful, we will add you to an Ambassadors WhatsApp group.

Workshops will be facilitated by Chris Afuakwah, Storytelling Officer at Scottish Refugee Council.
